Just carpet has eight different quality grades of carpeting. Three types are being selected for a corporate test on durability.
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

When we have a set of N elements, the number of combinations of K elements (such that N ≤ K) from these N elements is:

C(N, K) = \frac{N!}{(N - K)!*K!}

Then if we have 8 different types of carpet, and we want to see how many different samples of 3 types we can choose, we just need to replace N by 8, and K by 3 in the above equation:

C(8, 3) = \frac{8!}{(8 - 3)!*3!} = \frac{8!}{5!*3!} = \frac{8*7*6}{3*2} = 56

So there are 56 different samples.

Now we can do the same, but this time we want to use 5 types of carpet, then we will have K = 5.

C(8, 5) = \frac{8!}{(8 - 5)!*5!} = \frac{8!}{3!*5!}  = 56

Again, we have 56 different samples.

How much is a 20% tip
GenaCL600 [577]
That would depend on the price u r originally paying because ur tip is a percentage of the original price.

Lets say u went out to eat and ur meal costs u $ 40. U plan on leaving a 20% tip. So ur tip would be 20% of 40....0.20 * 40 = 8...so a 20% tip on ur meal would be $ 8.

but if ur meal cost $ 25....and u left a 20% tip....20% of 25 = 0.20 * 25 = 5...so if ur meal was $ 25 and u left a 20% tip, u would be tipping $ 5

Suppose that the water level of a river is 34 feet and that it is receding at a rate of her foot per day right in equation and h
Ghella [55]

Answer: it will take 9 days

Step-by-step explanation:

The water level was initially at 34feet it was receding at the rate of a foot per day. The rate at which it was receding is linear, thus, it is in an arithmetic progression. The formula for the nth term of an arithmetic progression is expressed as

Tn = a+(n-1)d

Where

a is the first term if the sequence

d is the common difference

n is the number of terms.

From the information given,

a = 34 feet because it is the initial height

n is the number of days it will take to get to 26 ft

d = -1 because it is decreasing by 1 foot per day.

Tn = T26 = 26 feet. Therefore, the equation will be

Tn = 34 -1(n-1)

To find for T26,

26= 34 + (n - 1)-1

26 - 34 = -n + 1

n - 1 = 8

n = 8 + 1 = 9
