Is the state of the air in an isolated room completely specified by the temperature and the pressure? Explain

I think these two variables are sufficient to completely specify the state.

In an isolated room with air only ,the volume is fixed.Mass ,density and its specific volume can be easily known.

Other thermodynamic properties like entropy, enthalpy etc are also fixed at a given temperature & pressure.

Big bang theorists believe that the universe is expanding and will eventually contract.
Zina [86]

The statement ‘Big bang theorists believe that the universe is expanding and will eventually contract’ is false. The answer is letter B. The big bang theory suggests that the origin of the universe began with that exploded and expanded. It also states that the universe began in a single form of high condensed reactive matter and exploded forming the galaxies, planets, stars and other celestial bodies.

A rock is thrown horizontally from a high building at 33.8 m/s. What is the magnitude of its velocity 4.25 s later?
Alex17521 [72]
<h2>Answer:53.63ms^{-2}</h2>

Explanation:

The equations of motion used in this question is v=u+at

When a object is projected horizontally from a sufficiently height,the x-component of acceleration remains zero because there is no force that drags the object in x direction.

But,due to gravity,the object accelerates downward at a rate of 9.8ms^{-2}.

In X-Direction,

Given that initial velocity=u_{x}=33.8ms^{-1}

Using v=u+at,

v_{x}=33.8+(0)4.25=33.8ms^{-1}

In Y-Direction,

Given that initial velocity=u_{x}=0ms^{-1}

Using v=u+at,

v_{y}=0+(9.8)4.25=41.65ms^{-1}

v=\sqrt{v_{x}^{2}+v_{y}^{2}}

v=\sqrt{1142.44+1734.72}=\sqrt{2877.163}=53.63ms^{-1}

Calculate the force that the 4kg block exerts on the 10kg block
Kryger [21]
Acceleration=force/mass=28/(10+4)=2m/s^2

force10kg=ma=10*2
force4kg=ma=(10*2)=20
the4 kg is pushing against the 10kg block

vf=vi+at
-10=20*28/14 * t
t=30/2=15sec

i hope this can help you.

if a torque of 55.0 N/m is required and the largest force that can be exerted by you is 135 N what is th e length of the lever a
Whitepunk [10]

Answer:

r=0.41m

Explanation:

Torque is defined as the cross product between the position vector ( the lever arm vector connecting the origin to the point of force application) and the force vector.

\tau=r\times F

Due to the definition of cross product, the magnitude of the torque is given by:

\tau=rFsin\theta

Where \theta is the angle between the force and lever arm vectors. So, the length of the lever arm (r) is minimun when sin\theta is equal to one, solving for r:

r=\frac{\tau}{F}\\r=\frac{55\frac{N}{m}}{135N}\\r=0.41m
