The molar mass of the carbohydrate : = 304.19 g/mol

Further explanation

Given

6.54 g carbohydrate

102.5 g of water

osmotic pressure of 4.61 atm

T = 20+273=293 K

Required

The molar mass

Solution

General formula:

\large {\boxed {\bold {\pi \: = \: M \: x \: R \: x \: T}}}

π = osmosis pressure (atm)

M = solution concentration (mol / l)

R = constant = 0.08205 L atm mol-1 K-1

T = Temperature (Kelvin)

Find molarity(M) :

4.61 atm = M . 0.08205 x 293

M = 0.192 mol/L(mol solute per 1 liter solution)

Total mass of solution :

= 6.54 g + 102.5

= 109.04 g

Volume of solution :

= density x mass

= 1.024 g/ml x 109.04 g

= 111.66 ml

= 0.112 L

mol Carbohydrate (solute):

= M x V

= 0.192 x 0.112

= 0.0215 mol

Molar mass of Carbohydrate :

= mass : mol

= 6.54 : 0.0215

= 304.19 g/mol

Explain briefly how you would obtain crystals of sodium chloride from a mixture of sodium chloride ,lead[ii]oxide and iron filin
Arisa [49]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

All the substances in the mixture; sodium chloride ,lead II oxide and iron filings are solids.

The first step is to use a magnet to separate the iron fillings which is a magnetizable material.

The remaining part of the mixture is now dissolved in water. Lead II oxide is insoluble in water while sodium chloride is very soluble in water hence a filtrate and a residue are obtained.

The residue is lead II oxide which can be dried to recover the solid. The filtrate contains sodium chloride which is recovered by evaporating the solution to dryness.

g 8. A hydrogen atom is initially a rest and in the ground state. A proton with kinetic energy 1000 eV scatters off the atom. In
aleksley [76]

Answer:

Explanation:

Ionization energy of hydrogen atom is 13.6 eV . This energy will be provided by energetic proton , the kinetic energy of which is 1000 eV. The kinetic energy of ionized electron is 15.2 eV . Kinetic energy of proton produced from from the ionization of hydrogen or the nucleus of the hydrogen atom is 4.3 eV . All these energy must have come from kinetic energy of initial proton.

So kinetic energy of projectile proton after collision

= 1000 - ( 13.6 + 15.2 + 4.3 ) eV.

= 966.9 eV .
