Solving for Y

3x+y=2

y=2-3x

y=2-3x,x R

Solving for X

3x+y=2

3x=2-y

x= 2/3-1/3y

x=2/3-1/3y

Find the x-intercept

3x+y=2

3x+0=2

3x=2

x=2/3

Find the y-intercept

3x+y=2

3 times 0+y=2

y=2

The equation of a circle is ( x - 3) 2 + ( y + 2) 2 = 25. The point (8, -2) is on the circle.
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

x =8 is the equation of the tangent.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the equation of the given circle is: (x-3)^{2} + (y+2)^{2} = 25

Now, comparing it with the general equation of circle: (x-h)^{2} + (y -k)^{2} = r^2

we get the central coordinates (h,k)  = (3,-2)

So, the slope of the line joining center and (8, -2) = \frac{-2 -(-2)}{8-3} = \frac{0}{5} = 0

Since the slope of line = 0, line is parallel to x axis.

Now, as tangent and the line is perpendicular to each other

⇒Slope of the tangent = -1/ slope of the line = \frac{-1}{0}

Now, by point slope formula: the equation of the tangent is

(y-y0)  = m (x-x0)

or, (y +2) = \frac{-1}{0} (x -8)

or x =8 is the equation of the tangent.

Find the value of this expression if x=9 x2 + 6 / x - 6
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

87/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we are given the expression:

\frac{x^{2}+6}{x-6}

Now we have to find the value of this expression when x equals 9.

So plugging the value of x as -9 in the given expression:

\frac{x^{2}+6}{x-6}

=\frac{(9)^{2}+6}{9-6}

=87/3

So on evaluating we get the value of expression as 87/3.

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (12,-8) and (-9,-11)
Sauron [17]
Answer: 1/7

Explanation:

1. Use the formula, y2-y1/x2-x1
Plug in the points, (12, -8) and (-9, -11) into the formula.
Point (12, -8): 12 is the X1 and -8 is the y1.
Point (-9, -11): -9 is the X2 and -11 is the y2
So, -11--8/-9-12

2. -11--8/-9-12= -3/-21= 1/7

I hope this helps!!
