a company added a new oil tank that holds 350 barrels of oil more than its old oil tank. Together they hold 3650 barrels of oil.
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

Capacity of old tank =  1650 barrels.

Capacity of new tank =  2000 barrels.

Explanation:

  Let a be the capacity of old tank and b be the capacity of new tank.

 A company added a new oil tank that holds 350 barrels of oil more than its old oil tank.

So we have    b - a  = 350 ----------------------equation 1

Together they hold 3650 barrels of oil

                        a + b = 3650 ----------------------equation 2

equation 1 + equation 2

                       2b = 3650 + 350 = 4000

                          b = 2000 barrels.

Substituting in equation 1

                  2000 - a = 350

                            a = 1650 barrels.

Capacity of old tank =  1650 barrels.

Capacity of new tank =  2000 barrels.

ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer: option A is the correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

The cost of oranges in a grocery store is directly proportional to the number of oranges purchased. Jerri paid $2.52 for 6 oranges.

If p represents the cost, in dollars,and n represents the number of oranges purchased, then introducing a proportionality constant, k, the equation becomes

p = kn

2.52 = k × 6

k = 2.52/6 = 0.42

Therefore, the equation representing the relationship is

p = 0.42n

A girl is on a train that is headed East at 100 miles per hour. The girl is walking at 5 miles per hour
nata0808 [166]

Answer: The speed is 105 miles/ hr and  the direction of the train would be East if the girl is the frame of reference.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Speed of train = 100 miles per hour

Speed of girl = 5 miles per hour

Since the girl is moving towards the back of train.

So,it means train and girl are moving in opposite direction.

So, Relative speed would be

100+5=105\ miles/hr

Hence, the speed is 105 miles/ hr and  the direction of the train would be East if the girl is the frame of reference.
