You multiply the number of cars(bottom row) by 4 to get the number of tires(top row) so if there are 4 cars then there will be 16 tires. If you think about it, there are 4 tires on a car so you would multiply the number of cars by 4 to get the number of tires

Use y= mx+c to find equation of line

Plug in a pair of values,

-3= -1(4)+ c

c= 1

Thus, equation is:

y = -x+1

Equation of line perpendicular to this line is:

y= x+1

x^2+6^2=10^2 Plugin a=x, b=6, and c=10. Now let us solve for x 

x^2+36=100 Square each individual term 

x^2+=100+36 Subtract 36 from both sides 

x^2=64 Combine like terms 

sqrt(2)=sqrt(64) Take the square root of both sides 

x = 8 Simplify the square root 

So our answer is x = 8 
The ladder touches the 8 feet mark on the wall.
