In Ancient Greece, athletes competing in the long jump used handheld weights called halteres to lengthen their jumps. You are a
katovenus [111]

The halter add the distance to the jump in meters is 0.55 m.

What is projectile?

When an object is thrown at an angle from the horizontal direction, the object is said to be in projectile motion. The object which follows the projectile motion is called the projectile.

The magnitude of velocity u =10.3 m/s, angle of jumping θ = 22.8 degrees.

Components of velocity in x and y direction are

Vx = 10.3 cos 22.8 = 9.5 m/s

Vy = 10.3 sin 22.8 = 4 m/s

Maximum Range of athlete achieved using halter is given by

R = u²sin2θ /g

where, u = initial velocity, θ is the angle of projection and g is the gravitational acceleration.

Substituting the values, we get

R = (10.3)² sin(2 x 22.8 °) / 2 x 9.81

R = 7.75m

At the peak of jump you throw two 5.5 kg masses horizontally behind you such that their velocity is zero in the ground's reference frame.

The momentum is conserved in this situation,

(M+2m)Vxo =MVx'

Vx' = (M+2m)/M x Vxo'

Change in x component of velocity ΔVx = Vx' -Vxo

Vxo = 2m/M x Vx

Vxo = 2 x 5.5 /78 x 9.5

Vxo = 1.34 s

Maximum height gained when final velocity is zero

Vy = 0 = Vyo -gt

time t = Vyo/g = 4/9.8 = 0.41s'

Increase in range by using of halters is

ΔR = ΔVx' x t

ΔR = 1.34 x 0.41

ΔR =0.55m

Thus, the halter add the distance to the jump in meters is 0.55 m.

What happens when a spinning ice skater draws in her outstretched arms? Group of answer choices Her moment of inertia increases
kotegsom [21]

Answer:

Her moment of inertia decreases causing her spin to speed up. The physics law behind this phenomenon is the conservation of angular momentum.

Explanation:

Theory

The Law of conservation of angular momentum

The angular momentum of a rotating body or a system remains constant unless it is acted upon by an external unbalance force.

Angular momentum = moment of inertia × angular velocity

The moment of inertia = mass×[perpendicular distance from axis of rotation]²

___________________________________________________________

⇒When skater draws in her outstretched arms the mass distribution get concentrated towards the axis of rotation so the moment of inertia of the body decrease.

But angular moment should conserve so angular velocity increases (spin increases)

A wildlife researcher is tracking a flock of geese. The geese fly 4.0km due west, then turn toward the north by 40 degrees and f
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

(a). The distance from the initial position is 6.68 km.

(b). The magnitude of their displacement is 7.05 km.

Explanation:

Given that,

Geese fly 4.0 km due west, then turn to north by 40° and fly another 3.5 km.

(a). We need to calculate the distance from the initial position

Using formula of distance

D=AB+BC\cos\theta

Put the value into the formula

D=4.0+3.5\cos40

D=6.68\ km

(b). We need to calculate the magnitude of their displacement

Using formula of displacement

AC=\sqrt{CD^2+AD^2}

AC=\sqrt{(3.5\sin40)^2+(6.68)^2}

AC=7.05\ Km

Hence, (a). The distance from the initial position is 6.68 km.

(b). The magnitude of their displacement is 7.05 km.

10-kg box is sliding across an ice rink at 10 m/s . A skater exerts a constant force of 10 N against it. How long will it take f
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

Time, t = 10 seconds

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Mass = 10kg

Force = 10N

Final velocity = 10m/s

Initial velocity = 0m/s

To find the time;

First of all, we would find the acceleration of the box.

Force = mass * acceleration

10 = 10 * acceleration

Acceleration = 10/10 = 1m/s²

Now, we can find the time by using the first equation of motion;

V = U + at

10 = 0 + 1t

10 = t

Time, t = 10 seconds

Therefore, it will take 10 seconds for the box to come to a complete stop.

Help!! I’ll give brainliest!! Which person will hear the highest pitch?
boyakko [2]

Answer: person C.

Explanation:

1) The frequency of the sound wave is perceived or detected as the pitch of the sound.

And the higher the frequency the the higher the pitch.

2) When a sound source is in motion there is an apparent change in the pitch perceived. This is the Doppler effect, which is defined as the change in the perception of the pitch in virtue of the relative motion between the listener and the emitter of the sound.

If the source of the sound is moving toward the listener, the pitch will be higher that if the sound is at rest. If the source of the sound is moving away from the listener, the pitch will be lower.

That is because the the motion of the emitter increases (or decreases, depending on whether the emitter is moving toward or away the listener) the speed of the sound waves and they arrive more frequently (or less frequently).

Then, since the sound is emitted by the motorbike and it is moving toward the person C, he will hear the highest pitch.
