is weigh-in time for the local under-85-kg rugby team. The bathroom scale used to assess eligibility can be described by Hooke’s
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

a) 156960 N/m

b) Yes the player can play on the team.

Explanation:

F = Force

a = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

m = Mass

k = Spring constant

x = Deformation length of spring

F = ma

From Hooke's law

F=kx\\\Rightarrow ma=kx\\\Rightarrow k=\frac{ma}{x}\\\Rightarrow k=\frac{120\times 9.81}{0.0075}\\\Rightarrow k=156960\ N/m

The effective spring constant is 156960 N/m

When x = 0.48 cm = 0.0048 m

m=\frac{kx}{a}\\\Rightarrow m=\frac{156960\times 0.0048}{9.81}\\\Rightarrow m=76.8\ kg

The mass of the player is 76.8 kg which is less than the required mass limit of the players' which is 85 kg. So, the player is eligible to play.

Find the ratio of the gravitational force between two planets if the masses of both planets are quadrupled but the distance betw
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

The ratio of the new force over the original force is 16

Explanation:

Recall the formula for the gravitational force between two masses M1 and M2 separated a distance D:

F_G=G\,\frac{M_1\,\,M_2}{D^2}

So now, if the masses M1 and M2 are quadrupled and the distance stays the same, the new force becomes:

F'_G=G\,\frac{4M_1\,\,4M_2}{D^2}=G\,\frac{16\,\,M_1\,\,M_2}{D^2}=16\,\,G\,\frac{M_1\,\,M_2}{D^2}= 16\,\,F_G

which is 16 times the original force.

So the ratio of the new force over the original force is 16

A 36,287 kg truck has a momentum of 907,175 kg • m/s. What is the trucks velocity.
Airida [17]

Momentum = Mass x Velocity

Put the values where they belong and solve for Velocity.

In this case, since Mass is being multiplied by Velocity, to solve for be Velocity you would divide both sides by Velocity.  The velocity will equal the momentum divided by the mass.

Which of the following is NOT an illuminated object?
Korolek [52]

Answer:

The answer here would be light bulb.

Explanation:

An Illuminated object is simply something that reflects light. And everything in the list is illuminated except the light bulb. Humans reflect light in the same way as desks and sidewalks. If we didn't we wouldn't technically be able to see other humans unless they were luminous. This brings me to the nest point. A light bulb is a luminous object because <em>it creates light on its own. </em>

A good example would be this:

The Sun is a luminous object

The Moon is a illuminated object

I hope this helped and didn't confuse you more, I kind of went all over the place with the explanation. Either way, if you need more help feel free to let me know! :)
