Combustion reactions always contain products of CO + H2O with the addition of O2 (oxygen) in the reactant.

In this case it would be:

C3H7OH OR C3H8O (if you count up all the H’s)

We’re just going to use C3H7OH since that’s what you were given so it’ll be easier for you that way.

C3H7OH + O2 -> CO2 + H2O

Balanced:

2 C3H7OH + 9 O2 -> 6 CO2 + 8 H2O

A chemical reaction that is expected to form 325.0 gof product only forms 123.8 g of product. What is the percent yield of this
Tasya [4]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf A. \ 38.1 \%}}

Explanation:

Percent yield is the ratio of the amount actually produced to how much could theoretically be produced. It is found using this formula:

\% \ yield = \frac{actual \ yield}{theoretical \ yield} *100

For this reaction, the theoretical or expected yield is 325.0 grams. The actual yield is 123.8 grams.

\% \ yield = \frac{ 123.8 \ g }{325.0 \ g }*100

Divide.

\% \ yield = 0.380923077 *100

\% \ yield = 38.0923077

Round to the nearest hundredth. The 9 in the hundredth place tells us to round the 0 to a 1 .

\% \ yield \approx 38.1

The percent yield is about <u>38.1%</u>

A sample of an unknown metal has a mass of 6.557 g. The metal was carefully added to a graduated cylinder containing 10.50 mL of
Levart [38]

Answer:

Explanation:

Be careful. The tricky part of the problem is that there are 4 places of sig digs.

m = 6.557 grams

V = 11.16 - 10.50 = 0.66

density = mass/ volume

density = 6.557/0.66 = 9.935 g/mL

The addition of 250.0 J to 30.0 g of copper initially at 22.0°C will change its temperature to what final value? (Specific heat
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

Final temperature = 43.53^{\circ} C

Explanation:

Given that,

Heat added, Q = 250 J

Mass, m = 30 g

Initial temperature, T₁ = 22°C

The Specific heat of Cu= 0.387 J/g °C

We know that, heat added due to the change in temperature is given by :

Q=mc\Delta T\\\\Q=mc(T_2-T_1)\\\\\dfrac{Q}{mc}=(T_2-T_1)\\\\T_2=\dfrac{Q}{mc}+T_1

Put all the values,

T_2=\dfrac{250}{30\times 0.387}+22\\\\=43.53^{\circ} C

So, the final temperature is equal to 43.53^{\circ} C.

Determine the pH of a KOH solution made by mixing 0.251 g KOH with enough water to make 1.0 × 10 2 mL of solution
vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

pH = 12.65

Explanation:

From the given information:

number of moles =mass in gram / molar mass

number of moles of KOH = mass of KOH / molar mass of KOH

number of moles of KOH =  0.251 g / 56.1 g/mol = 0.004474 mol

For solution :

number of moles = Concentration × volume

concetration = number of moles/ volume

concetration = 0.004474 mol / 0.100 L

concetration  = 0.04474 M

We know that 1 moles KOH result into 1 mole OH⁻ ions

Therefore,  Molarity  of OH⁻ = 0.04474 M

Now,

pOH = -log[OH⁻]

pOH = -log (0.04474) M

pOH = 1.35

Similarly,

pH + pOH = 14

pH = 14 - pOH

pH = 14 - 1.35

pH = 12.65
