A blizzard is a massive snowstorm. Definitions vary, but for our purposes, we will assume that a blizzard is characterized by bo

th winds of 30 mph or higher and blowing snow that leads to visibility of 0.5 miles or less, sustained for at least 4 hours. Data from a storm one day has been stored in a file stormtrack.dat. There are 24 lines in the file, one for each hour of the day. Each line in the file has the wind speed and visibility at a location. Create a sample data file. Read this data from the file and determine whether blizzard conditions were met during this day or not.

Answer:

The weather conditions do not suggest a blizzard. It is explained below.

Explanation:

wind_speed=randi([12 56],24,1);

visibility=randi([1 10],24,1)/10;

storm_data=[wind_speed,visibility];

save stormtrack.dat storm_data -ascii

clear

load stormtrack.dat

fprintf('Below is the storm data from the file stormtrack.dat \n');

disp(stormtrack)

wind_speed=stormtrack(:,1);

visibility=stormtrack(:,2);

L=length(wind_speed);

count=0;

i=0;

while count<4 && i<L

i=i+1;

if wind_speed(i)>=30 && visibility(i)<=0.5

count=count+1;

else

count=0;

end

end

if count==4

fprintf('The weather conditions suggest a blizzard.\n')

else

fprintf('The weather conditions do not suggest a blizzard.\n')

end

never [62]

Answer:

C = 132.5 MPa

R = 86.20 MPa

Explanation:

Given

σx = 175 MPa

σy = 90 MPa

τxy = 75 MPa

For the given state of stress at a point in a structural member, determine the center C and the radius R of Mohr’s circle.

We apply the following equation for the center C

C = (σx + σy) / 2

C = (175 MPa + 90 MPa) / 2

C = 132.5 MPa

The Radius can be obtained as follows

R = √(((σx - σy) / 2)² + (τxy)²)

R = √(((175 MPa - 90 MPa) / 2)² + (75 MPa)²)

R = 86.20 MPa

There are six items to be rung up in the cash register. The first item costs $15.00. Each item after that costs an additional $2
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

Explanation:

Below is the python code :

#using a for loop that will print the cost of each item

#first item cost is $15.0

item = [15.0]

tcost = 0.0

#for loop to print cost of each item and calculate total cost

for i in range(6):

tcost += item[i]

print('Cost of item ', (i+1), ' : $', item[i], sep = '')

item.append(item[i] + 2)

#print total cost

print('Total cost: $', tcost, sep = '')

print()

#Sequence formula to calculate the total cost

#total cost = n * ((first + last) / 2)

print('Calculating total cost using sequence formula')

tcost2 = 6 * ((15 + 25) / 2)

print('Total cost: $', tcost2, sep = ''

A 20 dBm power source is connected to the input of a directional coupler having a coupling factor of 20 dB, a directivity of 35
lukranit [14]

Answer:

P_O = 0.989 watt = 19.9 dBm

Explanation:

Given data:

P_1 power = 20 dBm  = 0.1 watt

coupling factor is 20dB

Directivity = 35 dB

We know that

coupling factor = 10 log \frac{P_1}{P_f}

solving for  final power

20 = 10 log\frac{P_1}{P_f}

2 = log \frac{P_1}{P_f}

100 = \frac{0.1}{P_f}

P_f = 0.001 watt = 0 dBm

Directivity D =  10 \frac{P_f}{P_b}

35 = 10 \frac{0.001}{P_b}

P_b = 3.162 \times 10^{-7} wattt

output Power  = P_1 -P_f - P_b

                       = 0.1 - 0.001 - 3.162 \times 10^{-7}

P_O = 0.989 watt = 19.9 dBm

Answer:

1. Industrial revolution was initiated or borne through the production of Steel

2. World War 1 led to the development of Tanks

Explanation:

The production of Steel through the Bessemer Process in the middle of the nineteenth century was a major technological development that spurred the Industrial revolution. This invention led to the widespread use of steel in the production of many things including vehicles and airplanes.

During the First World War in 1914, soldiers found the use of just their armaments in battle as not so productive. This led to the development of Tanks in 1915 that would continue moving towards the enemy even when being shot at.
