If the point (a,3) lies on the graph of the equation 5x + y = 8, then a=<br>a.01<br>b.0-1<br>c.0-7
fomenos

Answer:

A (a = 1)

Step-by-step explanation:

A coordinate point is always in the form (x,y) that means the first point is always x-coordinate and the second point is always y-coordinate.

The equation given is:

5x + y = 8

The point is (a,3), so that means x = a and y = 3

We substitute the values into the equation and find a. Shown below:

5x + y = 8

5(a) + (3) = 8

5a + 3 = 8

5a = 8 - 3

5a = 5

a = 5/5

a = 1

Answer choice A is right

What value of b makes the trinomial below a perfect square x^2-bx+100
Aloiza [94]
1. Perfect square trinomials, are 2nd degree polynomials, of the form          a x^{2} +bx+c so that a \neq 0, b \neq 0, c \neq 0, which can be written as perfect squares.

2. For example (x+1) ^{2} = x^{2} +2x+1&#10; &#10;(3x-1)^{2}= (3x)^{2}-2(3x)+(-1) ^{2}= 9x^{2}-6x+1    &#10;

3. Thus x^{2} +2x+1, 9x^{2}-6x+1 are perfect square trinomials.

4. x^{2} -bx+100= x^{2} -bx+ 10^{2}= (x+10)^{2}   or  (x-10)^{2}

5. In the first case -b=20, so b=-20. In the second case, -b=-20, so b=20.

6. b∈{-20, 20}

What is the completely factored form of t^4 − 16
MatroZZZ [7]

Since both terms are perfect squares, factor using the difference of squares formula, a^ 2  −  b ^2  =  ( a  +  b)  ( a − b )  where  a  =  t ^2 and  b  =  4 .

Answer: ( t^ 2  +  4 )  (  t  +  2 )  (  t  −  2 )
