TB solution = 100.3315 °C

T freezing solution = -1.209 °C

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Given

1.2 g glycerol

20 g water

Required

the boiling point

the freezing point

Solution

ΔTB = KB . m

ΔTF = KF . m

mass water = 20 g = 0.02 kg

Kb water = 0.51 °C/m

KF water = 1.86 °C/m

mol glycerol :

= 1.2 g : 92,09382 g/mol

= 0.013

molal  : the number of moles of solute in 1 kg of solvent

molal of solution :

= 0.013 : 0.02

= 0.65 m

ΔTB = KB . m

ΔTB = TB solution - TB solvent

TB solution - 100 = 0.51 x 0.65

TB solution - 100 = 0.3315

TB solution = 100.3315 °C

ΔTF = KF . m

ΔT = KF . m

ΔTF = 1.86 x 0.65

ΔTF = 1.209

T_f  = -1.209 °C

How is the Law of Conservation of Mass, Matter, Phases of Matter, and Physical/Chemical Changes similar/connected to one another
kogti [31]

Answer:

Solids, liquids, and gases are made of tiny particles called atoms and molecules. In a solid, the particles are very attracted to each other. They are close together and vibrate in position but don't move past one another. In a liquid, the particles are attracted to each other but not as much as they are in a solid.

Please help!! Which process occurs during all chemical reactions?
Sonbull [250]

Answer:

In a chemical reaction, only the atoms present in the reactants can end up in the products. No new atoms are created, and no atoms are destroyed. In a chemical reaction, reactants contact each other, bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms rearrange and form new bonds to make the products.

How can you experimentally determine the pK_a of acetic acid? Determine the pH of the solution 1/4 of the way to the end-point o
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

Determine the pH of the solution half-way to the end-point on the pH titration curve for acetic acid.

Explanation:

The equation for the ionization of acetic acid is

HA + H₂O ⇌ H₃O⁺ + A⁻

For points between the starting and equivalence points, the pH is given by the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation:

\text{pH} = \text{pK}_{\text{a}} + \log\dfrac{[\text{A}^{-}]}{\text{[HA]}}

At the half-way point, half of the HA has been converted to A⁻, so [HA] = [A⁻].  Then,

\text{pH} = \text{pK}_{\text{a}} + \log\dfrac{1}{1} = \text{pK}_{\text{a}} + 0 \\\\\text{pH} = \text{pK}_{\text{a}}

The pKₐ is the pH at the half-way point in the titration.
