Let's assume

number of cookies in the beginning =x

Larry ate 1/3 Of the cookies

so, the remaining cookies are

=x-\frac{1}{3} x

=\frac{2}{3} x

now, we have

Barry ate 1/4 Of the remaining cookies

so, the remaining cookies are

=\frac{2}{3} x-\frac{1}{4}*\frac{2}{3} x

=\frac{2}{3} x-\frac{1}{6} x

=\frac{2*2}{3*2} x-\frac{1}{6} x

=\frac{4}{6} x-\frac{1}{6} x

=\frac{3}{6} x

=\frac{1}{2} x

Terry ate 1/2 Of the remaining cookies

so, the remaining cookies are

=\frac{1}{2} x-\frac{1}{2}*\frac{1}{2} x

=\frac{1}{2} x-\frac{1}{4} x

=\frac{1}{4} x

Mrs James found the tray with 6 cookies left

so, the remained cookies =6

so, we get

\frac{1}{4} x=6

x=24

Hence ,

number of cookies were on the tray when Mrs James first left it on the counter are 24.............Answer

Dmitry [639]

Answer:

  (D)  t^4

Step-by-step explanation:

You have defined ...

  a3 = a2·a1

  a4 = a3·(a2·a1) = a3²

  a5 = a4·(a3·a2·a1) = a4² = (a3²)² = a3⁴

Then if a3 = t, a5 = t⁴
