The charge nurse should try to remain calm and not take it personally. She should try to listen carefully to the client's wife and actively sympathize with her. She should gracefully apologize, thank her and then take the problem up with the nursing staff to see where the problem was.and follow up with the client or client's wife.
Perhaps something like nicorette gum or patches could help slowly ease them off. This may reduce their symptoms because the body is still receiving the drug in small doses.
