Answer:

A) Work conditions were harsher in the Caribbean, and plantations were much larger than those in North America.

Step-by-step explanation:

the pf text book states: " Slaves in the Caribbean had the worst working conditions. They were required to work on sugar plantations from sunrise to sundown. The conditions were so severe that the average lifespan of a slave in the Caribbean was only 23 years old. Slaves in North America fared a bit better, though working conditions were still harsh."

Jayden is driving on a long road trip. He currently has 11 gallons of gas in his car. Each hour that he drives, his car uses up
DENIUS [597]

Answer:

a. 8 gallons

b. (11-0.75t) gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

a. Here in this question, we are told that the total amount of fuel in the fuel tank is 11 gallons and the car consumes 0.75 gallon per hour. We are interested in knowing the amount of fuel left in the tank after driving for four hours.

We proceed as follows;

Since 0.75 gallon is consumed in an hour, the amount of fuel consumed in 4 hours would be the amount consumed in an hour * 4 hours

Mathematically, that would be 0.75 * 4 = 3 gallon

Now, the amount of fuel left is simply the difference between the initial amount of fuel in the tank minus the amount of fuel present after 4 hours.

That would be; 11 - 3 = 8 gallons

b. Like above, we want to know the amount of fuel left after t hours.

Since 0.75 is used up per hour, the amount used up in t hours would be 0.75 * t = 0.75t

Now, the amount of fuel that would be left in the tank would be the difference between what we had initially and what was used up.

Mathematically, that would be 11- 0.75t

Find the perimeter of a polygon with vertices at A(0, 1), B(4, 4), C(7, 0), D(3, -3), E(-4, -4). Round your answer to the neares
wlad13 [49]

It's interesting that areas from coordinates are much simpler than perimeters from coordinates.  It's almost like math is telling us area is more fundamental than length.

p = AB+BC+CD+DE+EA

We use the Pythagorean theorem, square root form, on all the sides.  We can skip a lot of the square roots because most of these are the hypotenuse of a 3/4/5 right triangle.

B-A=(4-0, 4-1)=(4,3) so length AB=5

C-B=(7-4,0-4)=(3,-4), so again  BC=5

D-C=(3-7, -3-0)=(-4,-3) so again CD=5

E-D=(-4-3, -4 - -3) = (-7, -1).  Ends our streak.  DE=√(7²+1²)=√50=5√2.

A-E=(0 - -4,1 - -4)=(4,5) so EA=√(4²+5²)=√41.

Three of five were 3/4/5.

p = 5+5+5+5√2+√41 = 15+5√2+√41

I hate to ruin a nice exact answer with an approximation.

p ≈ 28.474192049298324
