Answer:

Let Natalie's age be x, and Fred's age be y.

x+y=40

y+3x=68

y=68-3x

x+68-3x=40

-2x+68=40

-2x=-28

x=14

Natalie is 14 years old, so Fred is 26 years old.

Hope this helps!

zimovet [89]

Answer:

16. D. 180 inches

17. A. 1/20 pound

18. D. (2,6)

19. A. 2/8

20. D. 22

Step-by-step explanation:

16. every 5 feet is 60 inches there is 15 feet because 1 yard=3 feet so 60*3=180

17. when you round it upwards you would have 30/40 and 32/40 so it would be 2/40 and then simply 1/20 so therefore it would be 1/20

18. The cost of milk is 3 so that would be (3,y) then every gallon would be y so (3,1)

19. You know this because when you plug in all the other numbers none of the rest of them work but A so therefore it must be A

20. So first you would multiply 2*2*2*2=8 Then you would divide 172/8=22. So therefore your answer would be 22

Which relation is a function? {(0, 2), (0, 4), (0, 6), (0, 8)} {(1, 2), (2, 3), (3, 4), (4, 5)} {(1, 2), (2, 1), (1, 3), (3, 1)}
o-na [289]

Answer:

{(1,2),(2,3),(3,4),(4,5)}

Step-by-step explanation:

A function is any relationship which takes one element of one set and assigns to it one and only one element of the second set.

From the above definition, the relation {(0,2),(0,4),(0,6),(0,8)} is not a function. 0 gives different values, if x=0, it gives 2 or 4 or 6 or 8. It is one-to-many relation

The relation {(1,2),(2,1),(1,3),(3,1)} is not a function, 1 is assigned to 2 or 3.

If x=1,it gives 2 or 3

The relation {(1,2),(3,4),(5,6),(1,8)} is not a function. It is a one - to - many relation. If x=1, it gives 2 or 8

The relation {(1,2),(2,3),(3,4),(4,5)} is a one - to- one relation and it is a function. One and only one value is assigned to only one value of the  second set. It is like the function f(x)= x+1

                    If x=1, f(x)=2

                    If x=2, f(x)=3

                    If x=3, f(x)=4

                    If x=4, f(x)=5
