Step-by-step explanation:

Given Vertex (5,4) and focus (8,4)

It can be easily noticed that focus and vertex lie on the same horizontal line y = 4

Obviously, the axis of symmetry is a horizontal line ( a line perpendicular to y-axis). Also, the focus lies to the right of the vertex so the parabola will open up rightward.

(y−k)^2=4a(x−h)

a=8-5=3 as y coordinates are the same.

Since the focus lies to the left of vertex, a = 3

(y−4)^2=4⋅3⋅(x−5)

(y−4)^2=12(x−5)

is the equation of the parabola.

Ashley can ride her bicycle 15 ml in 2 hours. There are 60 minutes in 1 hour and there are 1,760 in 1 mile. How many yards does
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

220 Yards per minute

Step-by-step explanation:

15miles/2hours

**To show mph**

7.5miles/1hour ; Now you want to convert the miles into yards and the hours into minutes.

7.5*1,760/60minutes

13200/60 minutes ; now divide to show yards per minute.

How do I solve this equation????
Alexus [3.1K]
So for this question (for finding x and y) you will want to use elimination. To do this you will need to bring the x and y to the same side (I put them on the left):
-3/2x+y=6
x+y=0
Now subtract the y on the bottom from the top to isolate x:
3/2x=6
Now the easiest way to bring over the 3/2 to isolate the x fully is to convert it to decimal (1.5) and divide it by 6 (because when multiplication on one side of problem the only way to bring it over is to divide):
x=6/1.5
which simplifies to:
x=4
Hope this helps!

What is the justification for each step in solving the inequality?
alekssr [168]
HELLO  ANNA!!

Given inequality
=> −2(x+1)≥3x+8
=>
- 2x - 2 \geqslant 3x + 8 \\ \\ add \: 2 \: in \: both \: sides \\ \\ - 2x \geqslant 3x + 10 \\ \\ subtract \: with \: - 3x \: in \: both \: sides \: \\ \\ - 5x \geqslant 10 \\

now multiply with - on both sides.

As we know now sign will change
=> 5x >_ -10

Now divide by 5 on both sides
=> x >_ -2
HOPE IT HELPED YOU.
