A pendulum is made up of a small sphere of mass 0.500 kg attached to a string of length 0.950 m. The sphere is swinging back and

forth between point A, where the string is at the maximum angle of 35.0∘ to the left of vertical, and point C, where the string is at the maximum angle of 35.0∘ to the right of vertical. The string is vertical when the sphere is at point B. Calculate how much work the force of gravity does on the sphere from A to B.

Answer:

W = 0.842 J

Explanation:

To solve this exercise we can use the relationship between work and kinetic energy

         W = ΔK

In this case the kinetic energy at point A is zero since the system is stopped

         W = K_f                (1)

now let's use conservation of energy

starting point. Highest point A

          Em₀ = U = m g h

Final point. Lowest point B

         Em_f = K = ½ m v²

energy is conserved

         Em₀ = Em_f

         mg h = K

to find the height let's use trigonometry

at point A

            cos 35 = x / L

            x = L cos 35

so at the height is

            h = L - L cos 35

            h = L (1-cos 35)

we substitute

           K = m g L (1 -cos 35)

we substitute in equation 1

           W = m g L (1 -cos 35)

let's calculate

           W = 0.500 9.8 0.950 (1 - cos 35)

           W = 0.842 J

Explain Using the equation for translational kinetic energy, show why a car moving at 40 m/s has four times the translational ki
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Equation for translational kinetic energy = 1/2 m V² where m is mass and V is velocity .

In first case let mass of car be m

Translational kinetic energy = 1/2 m x 40² = 800 m .

In the second case ,

Translational kinetic energy = 1/2 m x 20² = 200 m

So , in former case kinetic energy of car is 4 times that of second case.

A copper wire is stretched so that its length increases and its diameter decreases. what is the result?
Dovator [93]

The result is although the wire's resistivity doesn't change, its resistance does.

Considering the formula for a material's resistance:

R=pL/A

R is directly proportional to L and inversely proportional to A, as can be seen. Be aware that "rho" is a material-specific and intensive attribute (meaning this value will not change if the material is only physically altered). Remember that A = This implies that the relationship between R and the square of r is inverse. When the wire is stretched, the impacts on length are less noticeable than the effects on r. Therefore the wire's resistance increases, but its resistivity stays the same.

A constant force moves an object along the line segment from to . Find the work done if the distance is measured in meters and t
vladimir2022 [97]

This question is incomplete, the complete question is;

Flag

A constant force F = 6i+8j-6k moves an object along a straight line from point (6, 0, -10) to point (-6, 7, 2).

Find the work done if the distance is measured in meters and the magnitude of the force is measured in newtons.

Answer:

the work done is -88 J

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

we know that;

Work done = F × S

where constant force F = ( 6i + 8j - 6k )

S = ( -6i + 7j + 2k ) - ( 6i + 0j - 10k )

S = ( (-6i - 6i) + (7j - 0j) + ( 2k - ( -10k) ) )

S = ( -12I + 7j + 12k )

so

Work force = ( 6i + 8j - 6k ) × ( -12I + 7j + 12k )

Work force = ( 6 × -12 ) + ( 8 × 7 ) + ( -6 × 12 )

Work force = -72 + 56 - 72

Work force = -88 J

Therefore, the work done is -88 J
