An airplane flies with a velocity of 55.0 m/s [35o N of W] with respect to the air (this is known as air speed). If the velocity

of the airplane according to an observer on the ground is 40.0 m/s [53o N of W], what was the wind velocity?

V - the wind velocity;
53° - 35° = 18°
v² = 55² + 40² - 2 · 55 · 40 · cos 18°
v² = 3025 + 1600 - 2 · 55 · 40 · 0.951
v² = 440.6
v = √440.6
v = 20.99 ≈ 21 m/s
Answer: The wind velocity is 21 m/s.

A spaceship from a friendly, extragalactic planet flies toward Earth at 0.201 times the speed of light and shines a powerful las
bagirrra123 [75]

Answer:

The wavelength of observed light on earth is 568.5 nm

Explanation:

Given that,

Velocity of spaceship v= 0.201c

Wavelength of laser \lambda= 697\ nm

We need to calculate the wavelength of observed light on earth

Using formula of wavelength

\lambda_{0}=\lambda_{e}\times\sqrt{\dfrac{1-\dfrac{v}{c}}{1+\dfrac{v}{c}}}

\lambda_{0}=697\times10^{-9}\times\sqrt{\dfrac{1-\dfrac{0.201 c}{c}}{1+\dfrac{0.201c}{c}}}

\lambda_{0}=697\times10^{-9}\times\sqrt{\dfrac{1-0.201}{1+0.201}}

\lambda=5.685\times10^{-7}\ m

\lambda=568.5\times10^{-9}\ m

\lambda=568.5\ nm

Hence, The wavelength of observed light on earth is 568.5 nm

Two light bulbs each having a resistance of 3ohms are connected in series to a battery marked 12 volts. how much current will fl
Ludmilka [50]

Givens

Total Resistance (the bulbs are connected in series)

  • R = r1 + r2
  • r1 = 3 ohms
  • r2 = 3 ohms
  • R = 3 + 3 = 6 ohms
  • E = 12 volts
  • I = ??

Formula

E = I * R

Solution

12 = I * 6         Divide both sides by 6

12/6 = I*6/6

2 = I

The current = 2 amperes. Answer

Sound travels about 750 miles per hour. if you stand in a canyon and sound a horn, you will hear an echo. suppose it takes about
diamong [38]
The answer to this question would be:3850ft

To answer this question, you need to convert the speed velocity from miles/hour into feet/second. The equation would be: 750 miles/hour x 5280 foot/mile x 1 hour/3600second = 1100 ft/s
Then multiply the time with the velocity= 3.5 second x 1100 ft/s= 3850ft
