When rounding the number 2.348615 to 4 significant figures, what is the correct value?

Chemistry
1 answer:
Korolek [52]3 years ago
6 0

Answer:

2.349

5 rounds up, bringing '1' to '2'. 2 rounds down, maintaining '6'. 6 rounds up, bringing '8' to '9'. Thus, the answer is 2.349.

7. predict how atoms such as c, h, o, and n share electrons in a covalent bond, the role of electronegativity, and the potential
Lena [83]

The atoms C,H,O and N becomes more electronegative as the periodic table's right side and top get increasingly electronegative as you move down it. A hydrogen bond needs to share elements with hydrogen in order to exist.

As you move up and to the right of the periodic table, the electronegative properties increase. To form a hydrogen bond, elements would have to be shared with hydrogen. Each element becomes increasingly electronegative as you move further right on the periodic table, with the exception of noble gases (which aren't particularly reactive).

In order to obtain stability, atoms C, H, O, and N would therefore most likely desire to share their electrons (i.e., they are more electronegative because they wish to "hog" electrons). Due to its intermediate electronegativity, hydrogen has a mid-range potential for forming bonds with other molecules.

Calculate the mass, in grams, of Al(OH)3 required for this reaction:
AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

Mass = 28.08

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of Al₂O₃ = 21.8 g

Mass of water = 9.7 g

Mass of Al(OH)₃ = ?

Solution:

Chemical equation:

2Al(OH)₃   →   Al₂O₃ + 3H₂O

Number of moles of water:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 9.7 g/ 18 g/mol

Number of  moles = 0.54 mol

Number of moles of Al₂O₃:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 21.8 g/ 101.96 g/mol

Number of  moles = 0.21 mol

Now we will compare the moles of Al(OH)₃ with  Al₂O₃ and H₂O.

                          Al₂O₃       :          Al(OH)₃

                             1            :              2

                         0.21          :         2×0.21 = 0.42 mol

                         H₂O          :            Al(OH)₃

                            3            ;             2

                          0.54        :        2/3×0.54 = 0.36 mol

Mass of Al(OH)₃:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 0.36 mol × 78 g/mol

Mass = 28.08 g
