These amendments give people the right to vote regardless of
their age, race, sex or political beliefs.
Under the law, their rights are protected and they are free to do what
they want within the law. No one can
prevent them from voting as long as they 18 years old and are citizens of the
United States of America.
I believe one reason was that it was consensual between two young lover say 18 and 17 most 18 year olds would still be charged but given a second chance or should have been given.
The colonies that had the strictest slave codes were America and Britain
