Answer: The numbers of electron shells increase.

Explanation:

The elements in the periodic table are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. The horizontal rows are called as periods and vertical columns are called as groups.

The elements in the groups or vertical columns are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers and thus contain different number of protons and different number of neutrons. The electrons are added to new energy shells but contain same valence electrons and thus have similar chemical reactivity.

Ionization is defined as the property of an element to lose the valence electron ad ionization energy is the energy required to remove the valence electron. As, the size of an element increases, the valence electrons gets away from the nucleus. So, the attraction between the nucleus and the valence electron decreases, the tendency to lose electrons increases and thus ionization energy decreases.

The rule is number your table 1 2. 3 4 5 6 7 0 the number of shells increase as you go further up as it indicates the number of electrons on the outer shell e.g Argon will have 3 electrons on its outer shell hope this helps if not its then tighttt

Based on its position on the periodic table sodium is a solid at room temperature
ruslelena [56]

True

Explanation:

The position of sodium on the periodic table makes the element a solid at room temperature is very correct.

  • Sodium is an elements with 11 electrons in its shell.
  • It is located in group 1 on the periodic table because it contains an outer valence electron.
  • In a free state Na metal, the atoms exhibit metallic bonding.
  • Metallic bonding is responsible for the solid nature of this alkali metal at room temperature.
  • It is highly reactive because it has just one valence electron.
  • Metals are usually found left of the periodic table.
