See the attached two images to visually see where the function is increasing and decreasing.  (There's one image for each.)

We identify where a function is increasing based on where the y-values increase as the x-values increase.  In other words, as you move left-to-right, the function is increasing if the function is moving upwards.

We identify where a function is decreasing based on where the y-values decrease as the x-values increase.  In other words, as you move left-to-right, the function is decreasing if the function is moving downwards.

In both cases, while you recognize where it's one or the other based on the y-values, you describe it based on where it's happening, based on the x-values.  The y-values tell you what's happening, the x-values tell you where it's happening.

The function is increasing on the intervals (-infinity, -4) and (-2,infinity).  This is the red highlighted portions.

The function is decreasing on the interval (-4,–2).  This the the blue highlighted portions.

The probability of the spinner landing on the shaded part is p=1/3. The probability of it landing on an unshaded part is q=2/3 t
raketka [301]

Answer:

The correct answer is 0.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of a spinner landing on the shaded part follows binomial distribution.

Equation to be used is P(r) = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}n\\r\end{array}\right]  × p^{r} × q^{n-r} , where n is the number of times the spinner is spun and r is the number of times the spinner falls on the shaded region.

The probability of the spinner landing on the shaded part is p = \frac{1}{3}. The probability of it landing on the unshaded part is q = \frac{2}{3}.

The spinner is spun n = 3 times.

We need to find the probability of it landing on the shaded part r = 2.

∴ Putting the values in the equation gives,

P(r) = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}3\\2\end{array}\right]  × \frac{1}{2} ^{2} × \frac{2}{3} ^{1} = 3 × \frac{2}{3} × \frac{1}{4} = 0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

-2(2 - 5) + 10 + (-5) =

-2(-3) + 10 - 5 =

6 + 10 - 5 =

11

8 - 2(9 - 5)^2 - 1 =

8 - 2(4)^2 - 1 =

8 - 2(16) - 1 =

8 - 32 - 1 =

In a square, what is the relationship between the length of a side and the area?
EleoNora [17]
To find this answer I watched a Video called is side length & area proportional? by Khan Academy this is a very good website I use a lot!
The answer is non proportional I believe because the side length is x, so is the other side lengths because in a desire side lengths are all equal and to find area you do x squared or x times x. So they are not proportional because there will be different numbers for each. Ex. X= 2, area ( x squared ) is 4.
