Answer:

Skilled Scientist level from Rubric: The student clearly explained the purpose of the lab, showing critical thinking skills.

Procedure:

Investigate each of the three components of cell theory to investigate from the corkboard in the virtual lab:

All organisms are composed of cells.

Cells come from existing cells.

Cells are the basic unit of life.

For each section, record your observations below.

Complete your report and submit it for grading.Data and Observations (27 points):

Skilled Scientist level from Rubric: Data and/or observations were recorded accurately for each section; observations include important details, such as observable detail when appropriate.

Investigation #1 (9 points): All organisms are composed of cells.

What is the main function of each part of the compound microscope? Explain in your own words using information from the activity on page 7 of the lesson.

Skilled Scientist level from Rubric: The student demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills when answering the conclusion questions. Answers and ideas were expanded with unique details that were novel and showed creative thinking.

How did scientists discover that all living things are made of cells?

HINT: Review Investigation #1 for on this question.

How did Pasteur’s experiment with the flasks disprove the idea that living things could just appear or come from nonliving things like water and air?

HINT: Review Investigation #2 for on this question.

Why are nutrients needed for living things? Describe the difference between living and nonliving things.

An aqueous solution has a mass of 490 grams containing 8.5 × 10-3 gram of calcium ions. The concentration of calcium ions in thi
sammy [17]
To solve the concentration, it is equal to the mass of the calcium ions divided by the total mass of the solution.
C = mass of ions / mass solution
C = ( 8.5 x 10 ^-3 g ) / 490 g
C = 1.7 x 10^-5
since the choices are in ppm, multiply it by 10^6
C = (1.7 x 10^-5 ) 10^6
C = 17 ppm

Match the project to the appropriate field of chemistry (inorganic chemistry,
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Chemistry is composed of many sub-disciplines such as inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry etc. The following is a matching of certain projects against the sub-discipline in chemistry where they rightfully belong.

1) Determine the composition of a moon rock sample..... analytical chemistry

2) Do research on making a new medicine to treat high blood pressure..... biochemistry

3)  Investigate ways to regulate the rate of gasoline burning in an automobile engine......physical chemistry

4) Develop a plastic that can be decomposed by bacteria......organic chemistry

5) Improve the method for extracting iron from iron ore.....inorganic chemistry

The sub-disciplines of chemistry all work together to make the world a better place. The science of chemistry is very pivotal hence it is applicable in every area of science and technology.

Analytical chemistry, as the name implies, deals with "analyzing" or finding out the components of materials.

Biochemistry is concerned with the study of molecules that have biological activity such as medicine to treat high blood pressure.

One key area of physical chemistry is chemical kinetics which discusses rates of chemical reactions. This sub-discipline is important when investigate ways to regulate the rate of gasoline burning in an automobile engine.

Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. It studies compounds that contain long chains of carbon such as those found in plastics.

Inorganic chemistry deals with the study of the elements including the extraction of elements such as iron from its ore.
