A small amount wet of hydrogen gas can be prepared by the reaction of zinc with excess hydrochloric acid and trapping the gas pr
dybincka [34]

Answer : The partial pressure of the hydrogen is, 705.9 mmHg

Explanation :

According to the Dalton's law of partial pressure,

P_T=P_{H_2}+P_{H_2O}

where,

P_T = total pressure of the gas = 729.7 mmHg

P_{H_2} = partial pressure of the hydrogen gas = ?

P_{H_2O} = partial pressure of the water = 23.8 mmHg (standard value)

Now put all the given values in the above expression, we get:

729.7mmHg=P_{H_2}+23.8mmHg

P_{H_2}=705.9mmHg

Therefore, the partial pressure of the hydrogen is, 705.9 mmHg

SO2 + H2O = H2SO3 and not H2SO4?
kramer
It's because the Law of Conservation of Mass WILL NOT be followed if, from SO2 and water, sulfuric acid is formed. Making a balanced chemical reaction is not possible, no matter what you do. To obtain or make sulfuric acid, SO2 still needs to be oxidized further to SO3.

In order for an atom to be neutral (i.e. have no charge), it must have the same number of ______ as it has protons. a. neutrons
Marina CMI [18]

Answer : The correct option is, (b) There is a same number of electrons.

Explanation :

For the neutral atom, the number of protons and electrons are equal. But, they are unequal when the atoms present in the form of ions or the atom has some charges.

When an unequal number of electrons and protons then it leads to the formation of ionic species.

Ion : An ion is formed when an atom looses or gains electron.

When an atom looses electrons, it will form a positive ion known as cation.

When an atom gains electrons, it will form a negative ion known as anion.

For example : The neutral atom Mg has equal number of protons and electrons i.e 12 but Mg^{2+} ion has unequal number of protons and electrons that means it has 12 number of protons and 10 number of electrons.

Hence, the correct option is, (B) electrons

What mass of aluminum is needed to produce 0.500 mole of aluminum chloride?
3241004551 [841]

Answer:  " 13.5 g Al " ;

                    →  that is:  "13.5 grams of aluminum."

<u>____________________________</u>

Explanation:

<u>____________________________</u>

<u>Note</u>: What is missing from the question is the "balanced chemical equation" for the "chemical reaction" that contains:

 The reactants:  "aluminum (Al) " ;  and "chlorine (Cl) " ;  and:

 The product:    "aluminum choloride (AlCl₃) " .

____________________________

The "balanced chemical equation" is:

____________________________

        2 Al   +   3 Cl₂   →   2 AlCl₃   ;

_____________________________

<u>Note</u>: The molecular weight of "aluminum (Al)" is:   " 26.98 g /mol " .

____________________________

So:  We call solve using a technique known as:  "dimensional analysis" :

____________________________

  0.500 mol AlCl₃ * (\frac{2mol Al}{2mol AlCl_{3} }) * (\frac{26.98g Al}{1 mol Al}) = ?

____________________________

<u>Note</u>:  The units of "mol AlCl₃" cancel out to "1' ; and:

          The  units of "mol Al" cancel out to "1" ; and we are left with:

____________________________

 " \frac{(0.500 * 2 * 26.98)}{2}   g Al ["grams of aluminum"] ;

____________________________

<u>Note</u>: We can "cancel out the "2's" ; since "2/2 = 1 " ; and we have:

 →  (0.500 * 26.98) g Al ;

    = 13.49 g Al ;

         →  Round to 3 (Three) significant figures;

         →  Since:  "0.500" has 3 (Three) significant figures:

____________________________

   =  13.5 g Al ; that is:  "13.5 grams of aluminum."

____________________________

 Hope this is helpful!

      Best wishes to you in your academic pursuits—and within the "Brainly" community!

1. write the complete chemical symbol for the ion with 14 protons 15 neutrons and 18 electrons
motikmotik

Answer:

1.   Si^{-4}

2.  Co^{+2}

Explanation:

An ion is formed when an atom that is said to be neutral gains or losses electrons.

It is thought that a negative ion (anion) is produced as it gains electrons and a positive ion (cation) is formed when it loses an electron.

Atomic number is the total number of protons and electrons in a neutral atom.

From the information

Protons = 14

electron = 18

Net Charge = no of proton - no of electron

= 14 - 18 = -4

Mass number = 14 + 15 = 29

Thus, the chemical symbol = Si^{-4}

For ion with 27 proton, 32 neutrons and 25 electrons

Net charge = 27 - 25 = +2

Mass number = 27 + 32 = 59

Thus, the chemical symbol = Co^{+2}
