x---------> the number of pounds of pears

y---------> the number of pounds of apples

z---------> the total cost

we know that

z=0.92*x+1.10*y------> equation 1

x=3.75 lb-------> equation 2

y=2.1 lb -------> equation 3

Substitute equation 2 and equation 3 in equation 1

z=0.92*(3.75)+1.10*(2.1)--------> z=3.45+2.31------------> z=$5.76
