Suppose that a cyclist began a 308 mi ride across a state at the western edge of the state, at the same time that a car travelin

g toward it leaves the eastern end of the state. If the bicycle and car met after 5.5 hr and the car traveled 33.6 mph faster than the bicycle, find the average rate of each. The car's average rate is ____mph The bicycle's average rate is ____mph.

Let speed of bicycle be xmph
then speed of car will be x+33.6mph
total speed of both of them since they are moving towards each other= 2x+33.6
308miles/2x+33.6mph=5.5
2x+33.6=308/5.5=56
2x=56-33.6=22.4
x=11.2
bicycle ave rate is 11.2
car ave rate is 44.8

Suppose that receiving stations X, Y, and Z are located on a coordinate plane at the points (6,2), (negative 2,negative 4
marin [14]

Answer:

  (2,-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

A graph is useful here. Points X and Y have coordinate differences of ...

  X -Y = (6, 2) -(-2, -4) = (6+2, 2+4) = (8, 6)

Then the distance between X and Y is ...

  d = √(8² +6²) = √100 = 10

The point 5 units from X and from Y is the midpoint of XY:

  E = (X +Y)/2 = ((6, 2) +(-2, -4))/2 = (4, -2)/2 = (2, -1)

The epicenter is (2, -1).

_____

The graph shows circles of radius 5 around X and Y, and a circle of radius 13 around Z. The circles intersect at the point (2, -1), the epicenter.

marsha waide borrows 5,000 and agrees to pay it back in 2 years . if the simple interst rate is 13% ,find the total amount she p
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

You want to calculate the interest on $5000 at 13% interest per year after 2 year(s).

The formula we'll use for this is the simple interest formula.

Where:

P is the principal amount, $5000.00.

r is the interest rate, 13% per year, or in decimal form, 13/100=0.13.

t is the time involved, 2....year(s) time periods.

So, t is 2....year time periods.

To find the simple interest, we multiply 5000 × 0.13 × 2 to get that:

The interest is: $1300.00

Usually now, the interest is added onto the principal to figure some new amount after 2 year(s),

or 5000.00 + 1300.00 = 6300.00. For example:

If you borrowed the $5000.00, you would now owe $6300.00
