Answer:

A) Total distance around the park is 14.6 miles

B) The total distance drove by racer 730 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The length of park = 4.6 miles

The width of park = 2.7 miles

Let the total distance cover around park = Perimeter of park = P miles

So, Perimeter of rectangular park = 2 × Length + 2 × width

or, P = 2 × 4.6 + 2 × 2.7

I.e P = 9.2 + 5.4

Or, perimeter = 14.6 miles

A ) ∴ Total distance around the park = 14.6 miles

B ) The total distance drove by racer = 50 times around the park

So, The total distance drove by car = 50 × Total distance around the park

∴The total distance drove by car = 50 × 14.6 = 730 miles

Hence A) Total distance around the park is 14.6 miles

          B) The total distance drove by racer 730 miles   answer

Xavier said the product of a monomial and a binomial will always be a trinomial. Explain the error in his reasoning.
sergejj [24]

All that is needed is a single counter-example.

One counter-example is to multiply the monomial x^3 with the binomial x^7-10x^4

We then get...

x^3*(x^7-10x^4) = x^3*x^7 + x^3*(-10x^4)

x^3*(x^7-10x^4) = x^10 - x^7

The result we get is a binomial as there are still only two terms here. We would need three terms to have a trinomial.

Graph both functions to find the solution(s) to the system. Use the line tool to graph the line.
kumpel [21]
The graph shows solutions to be ...
  (x, f(x)) = (x, g(x)) = (-2, 5), (2, -3)

_____
Analytically, it works well to find
  g(x) -f(x) = 0
  (x^2 -2x -3) -(-2x +1) = 0
  x^2 -4 = 0
  x^2 = 4
  x = ±√4 = ±2
Then
  f(-2) = -2(-2) +1 = 5
  f(2) = -2(2) +1 = -3
