First, the whole part,

15/9=1 and 6/9

So the form will be 1.<something>

Next the decimal part,

6/9=2/3=0.6666...

So the number is 1.66666... but we need to round to the nearest hundredth.

If we write the number up until hundredth we would get,

1.66[66666...] but the next decimal is 6 which is more than 5 so we add 1 to the hundredth and get 1.67.

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

1.67

Step-by-step explanation:

after the decimal we have the

tens

hundreths

thousanths

(usually math doesn't ask you to go farther than the thousanths place)

because 15/9 is 1.66666, you will go to the hundreths place and round that six. Six is one more than five so it gets rounded up. That changes the decimal to 1.67.  You do not change it to 1.7, because it asked you to round to the nearest hundred not the nearest tens

DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

Approximately 14.65 kilometers.

Step-by-step explanation:

Please refer to the drawing.

So, to find our distance, we essentially just need to find the value of x.

To do so, we can use the Law of Sines.

Note that ∠a corresponds to the 12km, and ∠c corresponds to x.

So, let's find each of the angles first.

Note that from our ending point, the bearing to the lighthouse is 125°.

This means, if you refer to the drawing:

a+b=90

This is because they are complementary.

We also know that:

90+b=125

From our bearing.

So, let's solve for b. Subtract 90 from both sides:

b=35

Substitute this back into our first equation to acquire:

a+35=90

Subtract 35 from both sides:

a=55\textdegree

Now, we can use the fact that the interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 to find c. We already know that one angle is 36 and the other is 55. So:

36+55+c=180

Add:

91+c=180

Subtract 91 from both sides:

c=89\textdegree

Now, we can use the Law of Sines, which states:

\frac{\sin(A)}{a}=\frac{\sin(B)}{b}=\frac{\sin(C)}{c}

It doesn't really matter which ratio we use as long as we align the sides and angles correctly.

Recall that ∠a correspond to 12km while ∠c corresponds to x.

So, let's substitute 12 for a, 55 for A, x for b, and 89 for B. This yields:

\frac{\sin(55)}{12}=\frac{\sin(89)}{x}

So, to find the distance traveled, we just have to find x.

Cross-multiply:

12\sin(89)=x\sin(55)

Divide both sides by sin(55). This yields:

x=\frac{12\sin(89)}{\sin(55)}

Divide. Use a calculator. Make sure you're in Degrees mode. This gives us:

x\approx14.65

So, the ship approximately traveled 14.65 kilometers from Point A to Point B.

And we're done!

PLEASE HELP! I AM REALLY CONFUSED! find the value of a if X^3+8x^2+ax-2 is divisible by x-1
WARRIOR [948]

The value of a from the equation is -63.

Here we have to find the value of a.

Given data:

The equation is = x³ + 8x² + ax -2

The equation is divisible by x -1

So we have:

x -1 = 0

x = 1

Now putting the value in the equation we get the remainder as o because the equation is divisible by x -1.

So;

1³ + 8² + a(1) - 2 = 0

63 + a = 0

a = -63

Therefore we get the value of a as -63.

Add 16+12 to get 28.
Add 9+12 to get 21.

Think of these as the sides of a triangle.
a^2+b^2=c^2
28^2+21^2=1225
√1225=35

You threw the ball 35 feet.
