a box half full of apples weighs 40kg and the same box one fifth full weighs 22kg. what does the box weigh when empty?

So in order to answer your question  we calculate 40 - 22 wich gives us the answer of 18, so now we can say that 4/5 of apples weight 18 so now 18 / 4 = 4,5; 4,5 * 5 = 22,5 wich is the weight of apples you can put in the box, to know the answer we deduct the greatest weight of apples only from the weight of the box with those apples so, 40 - 22,5 = 17,5
so the answer to your question is 17,5
i hope i helped you

For which value of x is the equation 4x + 24 = 8x + 2x true?
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

x=4

Step-by-step explanation:

4x+24=8x+2x

We'll combine the 8x and the 2x on the right side.

4x+24=10x

Now, we'll subtract 4x from both sides.

24=6x

Divide both sides by 6.

4=x

What is the slope of 6x+10y=8<br> (choice A)<br> A -3/4<br><br> B -5/4<br><br> C -3/5<br><br> D -4/5
kvv77 [185]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Rearrange 6x + 10y = 8 into this form by subtracting 6x from both sides

10y = - 6x + 8 ( divide all terms by 10 )

y = - \frac{3}{5} x + \frac{4}{5} ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = - \frac{3}{5} → C

Each statement describes a transformation of the graph of f(x) = x. Which statement correctly describes the graph of g(x) if g(x
matrenka [14]

The statement which describes correctly the graph of g(x) is " It is the graph of f(x) reflected about the x-axis and shrunk horizontally by a factor of 10 " ⇒ answer C

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us revise some transformation

A vertical stretching is the stretching of the graph away from the x-axis

A vertical compression (or shrinking) is the squeezing of the graph toward the x-axis.

  • If k > 1, the graph of y = k•f(x) is the graph of f(x) vertically stretched by multiplying each of its y-coordinates by k.
  • If 0 < k < 1 (a fraction), the graph of y = k•f(x) is the graph of f(x) vertically shrunk (or compressed) by multiplying each of its y-coordinates by k
  • f k should be negative, the vertical stretch or shrink is followed by a reflection across the x-axis.

A horizontal stretching is the stretching of the graph away from the y-axis

A horizontal compression (or shrinking) is the squeezing of the graph toward the y-axis.

  • If k > 1, the graph of y = f(k•x) is the graph of f(x) horizontally shrunk (or compressed) by dividing each of its x-coordinates by k.
  • If 0 < k < 1 (a fraction), the graph of y = f(k•x) is the graph of f(x) horizontally stretched by dividing each of its x-coordinates by k
  • If k should be negative, the horizontal stretch or shrink is followed by a reflection across the y-axis.

∵ f(x) = x

∵ g(x) = f(-10x)

- Substitute x by -10x

∴ g(x) = -10x

∵ x is changed to 10x

- x multiplied by a number means shrink or stretch horizontally

∵ k = 10

∵ 10 > 1

∴ The graph of f(x) is shrunk horizontally by a factor of 10

∵ The value of g(x) is negative

- The negative sign of g(x) means reflection across x-axis

∴ The graph of f(x) is reflected about the x-axis

The statement which describes correctly the graph of g(x) is " It is the graph of f(x) reflected about the x-axis and shrunk horizontally by a factor of 10 "

Graph the equation.<br>y<br>=<br>2<br>(<br>x<br>−<br>4<br>)<br>2<br>+<br>5<br>y=2(x−4) <br>2<br> +5
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I believe you meant y = 2(x − 4)^2 + 5.  Use the symbol ' ^ " to indicate exponentiation.  This equation has the vertex form of the equation of a quadratic.  The  x-coordinate of the vertex is 4 and the y-coordinate is 5.  Thus, the vertex is at (4, 5).  The multiplier 2 stretches the graph vertically by a factor of 2.

To aid us in graphing this function, find the x- and y-intercepts:

If x = 0, y = 2(-4)^2 + 5, or 37.  Therefore the y-intercept is at (0, 37).

If y = 0, then

2(x − 4)^2 + 5 = 0,

2(x − 4)^2 = -5  But a square cannot be negative, so there is no x-intercept in this case.

To graph this function, plot the vertex (4, 5) and the y-intercept (0, 37).  Take advantage of symmetry and find another point across x = 4 from (0, 37):  It is (8, 37).
