main function is it aids in the reabsorption of substances required by the body. It does this by having many microvilli which give the nephron a large surface area. Also, it has many mitochondria which respire to produce energy and help in active transport.

but if yu want it simple helps in reabsorption of substaces

The main function of the nephron is to filter wastes out of the body and the re-absorption of substances required by the body.
The nephron also has components that have specific functions. There are about 1 million nephrons in one kidney
