PLSSS HELP MEE 100 POINTS!!!!!!! How many atoms of each element does magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)2, contain? Magnesium = 1 atom,
Basile [38]

It would be Magnesium = 1 atom, Oxygen = 2 atoms, Hydrogen = 2 atoms. It has 5 atoms total. There is 1 magnesium and you multiply each element by the the 2 outside the parenthesis to get 2 oxygen and 2 hydrogen.

Which has more atoms, 12.0 mol of C or 12.0 mol of Ca?
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

they are equal.

Explanation:

1 mol = 6.022 × 10^23 (Avogadro's constant), which is the number of atoms in 1 mol of any element. Doesn't matter what their atomic mass is, although, of course, 1 mol of carbon weighs less than 1 mol of calcium, but its because their mass is different, but the point is, in 1 mol of any element there is 6.03*10^23 atoms

This is like saying, what weighs more, 10 kg of feathers or 10 kg of metal

The average distance between nitrogen and oxygen atoms is 115 pm in a compound called nitric oxide. what is this distance in cen
e-lub [12.9K]
pm stands for picometer and picometers are units which can be used to measure really tiny distances. One picometer is equal to 10^{-12} meters. We know that one centimeter is equal to 10^{-2} m so there are 10^2 cm per meter. We can change the distance d = 115 pm to units of centimeters. d = (115 pm) x (10^{-12}m / pm) x (10^2 cm / m) d = 115 x 10^{-10} cm = 1.15 x 10^{-8} cm The distance in centimeters is 1.15 x 10^{-8} cm

If 28 ml of 5.8 m h2so4 was spilled, what is the minimum mass of nahco3 that must be added to the spill to neutralize the acid?
ipn [44]

First we have to refer to the reaction between the acid and the base:

H2SO4 + 2 NaHCO3 ---> 2 H2O + 2 CO2 + Na2SO4

From this balanced equation we can see that for every 1 mol of acid (H2SO4), we need 2 mol of base (NaHCO3) to neutralize it. Given 28 ml of 5.8 M acid, we need to find out how many mols of acid that is:

28mL * (1L/1000mL) * 5.8 mol/L = 0.1624 mol H2SO4

Since we need 2 mol of base per mol of acid, we need:

2*0.1624 mol = 0.3248 mol NaHCO3

MolarMass of NaHCO3 is 84.01 g/mol

0.3248 mol*(84.01g/mol) = 27.29 g NaHCO3
