Answer:

Explanation:

Two moles of magnesium (Mg) and five moles of oxygen (O2) are placed in a reaction vessel. When magnesium is ignited, it reacts with oxygen. What is the limiting reactant in this experiment?

Mg + O2 → MgO (unbalanced)

first, balance the equation

2Mg +O2-------> 2MgO

two magnesium atoms react with one diatomic oxygen molecule

there is a 1:1 ratio of magnesium to oxygen atoms

but we have 2 moles of magnesium atoms and 2X5 = 10 moles of oxygen atoms

the lesser magnesium LIMITS the amount of product we can make, so it is the LIMITING REAGENT.

90 grams of glucose, C6H12O6, is dissolved in 2 liters of solution. Determine the molarity (M).
Masja [62]

Answer:

0.25 M

Explanation:

The first step is to determine how many moles of glucose there are, which means first finding out the molar mass of glucose. Carbon has a molar mass of about 12, hydrogen 1, and oxygen 16, so the total molar mass of glucose is about 6(12)+12(1)+6(16)=180 grams. This means that 90 grams is half a mole. Half a mole of substance divided by two liters of solution is (1/2)/2=1/4, or a molarity of 0.25. Hope this helps!

Give reason. When the tip of a plant is cut, it does not grow tall.<br>
solong [7]

Answer: The growth of the plant decides on the presence of plant hormone, auxin which develops in the roots and shoots. Auxins change the rate of elongation in plant cells, controlling how long they become. So, if the tips are removed, there is no auxin made and growth of the plant stops.

The percentage of the earth’s atmosphere today is the same as it was in the earths early atmosphere. Suggest why.
jek_recluse [69]

Explanation:

Once the earth's atmosphere was formed it really hasn't changed since, this is due to many reasons. Whatever created the earth's atmosphere (we don't know) has long disappeared, because of this the atmosphere cannot change, as there is nothing on earth that can change it (that we know of at least). Hopefully this helps.
