The hellenistic culture is the greek culture that is characterized by post-Alexandrian influences. This means that when we're talking about the hellenistic culture, we're talking about Greek culture which has been influenced by Alexander the Great and his conquests around the world. The main difference between the two in all aspects was that the hellenistic culture was much more diverse in all regions of life as foreign people, not originally from Greece influenced daily life as well.

I don't know the context, however, based on this excerpt it seems that he went through something dangerous or tragic that made him feel panicky about many things around him.

The International Monetary Fund is dead accurate about inequality being detrimental to stability. However, the United Nations Commission of Experts on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System highlighted growing inequality as one of the most significant reasons contributing to the Great Recession of 2008 long before the IMF confirmed this relationship.

I outline the ways that inequality frequently results in instability in "The Price of Inequality." Both were there during our most recent crisis.
