Which of the following atoms has six valence electrons? (2 points)

Chemistry

The correct answer is Sulfur (S).

Sulfur has 6 valence electrons because it is located in Group 16 (or the sixth group over if you don’t count the transition metals). This means that one atom of sulfur has 6 electrons in its outermost shell out of 8 total “spots”, which you can count by counting the group numbers (excluding the transition metals) from Group 1 (with one valence electron) to Group 18 (the noble gases with full valence or outer shells).

By this same logic, Carbon (C) has 4 valence electrons and Cesium (Cs) has 1 valence electron, so neither of these is the correct answer.

Hope this helps!

Why does hcl conduct electricity with water but not with chloroform
Yuliya22 [10]

Answer:

ions need to be present in the water. If there are no ions in solution, no electricity is conducted. since, in water, electricity is conducted, this means that HCl completely ionizes to H + and C l − ions. However, in chloroform, since there is no conduction, HCl does not ionize and stays as the

Which element is malleable and can conduct electricity in the solid phase
Svet_ta [14]
There are several elements in the Periodic Table that are both malleable and good conductors of electricity and even heat. The Alkali metals such as potassium and sodium from Group 1 of the Periodic Table are very good conductors of electricity and are also pliant and malleable. From the group of Transition metals iron, copper, silver and gold are instances of all the 38 metals of this group that fulfil the conditions of being conductors and malleable. Some metals such as tin, lead, thallium, and aluminium are instances of elements that are malleable and can conduct electricity in the solid form. These elements belong to the Metalloids group in the Periodic Table.
