A wedge is a machine that consists of two inclined planes, giving it a thin end and thick end. A wedge is used to cut or split apart objects. wedge, in mechanics, device that tapers to a thin edge, usually made of metal or wood, and used for splitting, lifting, or tightening, as to secure a hammer head onto its handle. Along with the lever, wheel and axle, pulley, and screw, the wedge is considered one of the five simple machines.

Answer:

A wedge is a machine that consists of two inclined planes, giving it a thin end and thick end. A wedge is used to cut or split apart objects. Force is applied to the thick end of the wedge, and the wedge applies force to the object along both of its sloping sides. This force causes the object to split apart

A scientist performs an experiment on an unknown element. She finds that the element forms an ionic bond with beryllium (Be) but
Bumek [7]

To fill up all of the valence electrons we must have 8 electrons total to have an ionic bond. In this case Lithium is in group 1 and so only has 1 valence electron and so it can bond with elements from group 17, since 7 + 1 = 8. However, this unknown element did bond with beryllium, and beryllium is in group 2 so it must bond with an atom that has 6 valence electrons. The elements that have 6 valence electrons are in group 16 not group 2. So the result does not support her conclusion.

Find the initial velocity of a car which stops in 10sec, after applying brakes at the rate of 2m/s²
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

20\ m/s

Explanation:

Since we are given time, acceleration, and final velocity, we can use the following formula to find the initial velocity:

v_f = v_i + at

Our given values:

v_f = 0\\a = -2\\t = 10\\

Acceleration is negative because the car is slowing down.

Add the values to the formula, and solve for v_i:

v_f = v_i + at\\0 = v_i + (-2)(10)\\0 = v_i -20\\20 = v_i
