Write ionic equations for the following:

Chemistry

7 0

Answer:

1. H⁺ (aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + Na⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → Na⁺ (aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + H₂O (l)

2. H⁺ (aq) + Cl⁻ (aq) + K⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → K⁺ (aq) + Cl⁻ (aq) + H₂O (l)

3. 2H⁺ (aq) + SO₄²⁻ (aq) + Mg²⁺ (aq) + 2OH⁻ (aq) → Mg²⁺ (aq) + SO₄²⁻ (aq) + 2H₂O (l)

Explanation:

The ionic equation is an equation illustrating all the ions occurring in a reaction individually;

This is similar but can differ from the normal equation, because, typically, certain compounds consist of ions that dissociate in aqueous phase;

Net ionic equations can be found by eliminating all ions that remain the same, i.e. do not change state, which are known as spectator ions;

1. H⁺ (aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + Na⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → Na⁺ (aq) + NO₃⁻ (aq) + H₂O (l)

Net: H⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → H₂O (l)

NO₃⁻ ions are aqueous prior to the reaction and remain aqueous afterwards;

Similarly, the Na⁺ ions also remain aqueous;

The H⁺ and OH⁻, however, are aqueous (free ions in the solution) before the reaction;

After the reaction, these become the compound H₂O, a liquid so they do change state

2. H⁺ (aq) + Cl⁻ (aq) + K⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → K⁺ (aq) + Cl⁻ (aq) + H₂O (l)

Net: H⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq) → H₂O (l)

3. 2H⁺ (aq) + SO₄²⁻ (aq) + Mg²⁺ (aq) + 2OH⁻ (aq) → Mg²⁺ (aq) + SO₄²⁻ (aq) + 2H₂O (l)

Net: 2H⁺ (aq) + 2OH⁻ (aq) → 2H₂O (l)

A 100kg sumo wrestler named Bob is doing his daily run. He runs at a velocity of 8m/s. After the run Bob stops for a rest, and s
Elza [17]

Answer:

0 kgm/s

Explanation:

The momentum of Bob while resting at the river is 0 kgm/s.

This is because the momentum of any object at rest is 0.

Momentum is the quantity of motion a body contains. It is mathematically expressed as;

 Momentum = m x v

m is the mass

v is the velocity

So at rest, the velocity of a body is 0m/s and therefore, the momentum is O

Calculate the volume in liters of a potassium iodide solution that contains of potassium iodide . Be sure your answer has the co
Anna11 [10]

Answer:

23.8 L

Explanation:

There is some info missing. I think this is the original question.

Calculate the volume in liters of a 0.0380M potassium iodide solution that contains 150 g of potassium iodide. Be sure your answer has the correct number of significant digits.

The molar mass of potassium iodide is 166.00 g/mol. The moles corresponding to 150 grams are:

150 g × (1 mol/166.00 g) = 0.904 mol

0.904 moles of potassium iodide are contained in an unknown volume of a 0.0380 mol/L potassium iodide solution. The volume is:

0.904 mol × (1 L/0.0380 mol) = 23.8 L
