In her hand, a softball pitcher swings a ball of mass 0.245 kg around a vertical circular path of radius 59.8 cm before releasin
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

The velocity is v_b = 20.17 \ m/s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The mass of the ball is  m = 0.245 \ kg

   The radius is  r =  59.8 \  cm  =  0.598 \ m

   The force is  F =  30.9 \ N

   The speed of the ball is  v = 16.0 \ m/s.

Generally the kinetic energy at the top of the circle is mathematically represented as

    K_t  =  \frac{1}{2} *  m  *  v^2

=> K_t  =  \frac{1}{2} *  0.245   *  16.0 ^2

=> K_t  =  31.36 \ J

Generally the work done by the force applied on the ball from the top to the bottom  is mathematically represented as

       W =  F *  d

Here  d is the length of  a semi - circular arc which is mathematically represented as

       d =  \pi * r

So

      W =  30.9 *  0.598

      W = 18.48 \ J

Generally the kinetic energy at the bottom is mathematically represented as

      K_b  =  \frac{1}{2} *  m *  v_b^2

=>    K_b  =  \frac{1}{2} *  0.245  *  v_b^2

=>   K_b  =  0.1225  *  v_b^2

From the law of energy conservation

     K_t +  W  =K_b

=>    31.36+  18.48 = 0.1225  *  v_b^2

=>    v_b = 20.17 \ m/s

Derek and Wes take a photograph of a lake at the same angle and the same time of day. Derek's picture comes out with crisp edges
iren [92.7K]

Answer: Polarization

Explanation:

Probably what happens here is that Derek took his photograph with a polarizing filter (which is helpful to avoid that glare from the surface of water, for example), and Wes took his without that filter.

It is important to note, this kind of filter works with an optical phenomenon called polarization, which consists in the alignment of light (electromagnetic waves) in only one vibrational orientation.

To understand it better:

Normally, electromagnetic waves are not polarized, and the vibration occurs in all planes. However, if we make these waves to vibrate in a single plane, we have polarized light.

<u>This is only possible because electromagnetic waves are transversal waves</u>, hence the oscillation occurs in the transversal direction to the propagation.

Note this is not possible for longitudinal waves (sound), because the oscillation occurs in the same direction as the propagation.

Diesel engines make use of a _______ to add additional combustion chamber heat for cold weather starting.
Andrews [41]
Diesel engines are relatively cheaper than most other commercial engines. Combustion in the engine is started by ignition of high temperatures of the fuel. The best answer is B. glow plug. The glow plug is the device that aids this combustion-ignition process most especially for cold weather. Of course, heat is needed to start up the engine. The glow plug is this heating element as aid in starting up.

) In the figure below, three charges K, L and M are placed at the corners of an equilateral triangle. If K and L are fixed, in w
abruzzese [7]

Answer:

B)

Explanation:

Negative (-) charge M will not move towards negative (-) charge K because, same charges will not attract each other in the given case

Negative (-) charge at the M tends to move towards positive (+) charge L in the direction of B) because opposite charges attract each other.
