There are a few ways to solve

(1) turn the mixed numbers into improper fractions 4x3+1 = 13/4 and 2x2+1 = 5/2. from this point you need to make the denominators the same so 2x2=4. whatever you do to the bottom, you must do to the top. so 5x2=10. now your equation is 13/4 + 10/4 from here you just add straight across and leave your denominators as they are. you’ll get 23/4 simplified to 5 3/4 or 5.75

hope this helps!

Can someone help me to answer this please.
Volgvan

All it's asking is:  How many cubic inches are there in 22 gallons ? And it already GAVE us the conversion factor !

The conversion factor is . . . . .  1 gallon = 231 cubic inches

Multiply each side by 22:  22 gallons = 22 x (231 cubic inches)

22 x 231 = 5,082

22 gallons = 5,082 cubic inches

If you empty a full 22-gallon tank out through that flow meter, the meter  will register 5,082 cubic inches when the tank is empty.

without building a model tell whether a long row of 8 cubes or a cube made from 8 would have a greater volume. explain
Viktor [21]
I'm presuming that the 'large cube' is made from 8 cubes the same size as the 8 cubes in the long row. They both have the same volume, the only difference between them is that they are arranged in a different order. Hope this helps. If not feel free to ask again and give more information.
