At the state fair, admission at the gate is 10. In addition, the cost of each ride is 4. Suppose that Josh will go on x rides. J

Answer:

t ≤ 4x + 10

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of money that Josh spends on rides is the variable T, found in the problem. Josh wants to spend AT MOST t. That means he can spend as little as he wants, but he can't ride too many times so that the cost goes over T. Therefore, it has to be less than. But, it can also be equal to, as he can ride exactly many rides up to T,  it just can't go over it.

Next, the cost to get into the fair is ten dollars, meaning if he goes on only one ride, that will cost him 4 dollars, but actually will have cost him 14 dollars because of the entrance fee. So, no matter how many rides he goes on, there is always the entrance fee added on.

Finally, the cost for each ride is 4 dollars per ride or 4 times x with x being the number of rides he goes on.

So, for our answer, we have t ≤ 4x + 10!

Simplify.
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

To simplify the expression √3/√8, we can first simplify the square root terms by finding the prime factorization of each number under the square root. The prime factorization of 3 is 3, and the prime factorization of 8 is 2 * 2 * 2.

We can then rewrite the square root terms as follows:

√3/√8 = √(3) / √(2 * 2 * 2)

Next, we can use the property of square roots that says that the square root of a number is equal to the square root of each of its prime factors. This means that we can rewrite the square root term as follows:

√(3) / √(2 * 2 * 2) = √(3) / √(2) / √(2) / √(2)

Since the square root of a number is the same as the number itself, we can simplify the expression further by removing the square root symbols from the prime numbers 2:

√(3) / √(2) / √(2) / √(2) = √(3) / 2 / 2 / 2

Finally, we can use the rules of division to simplify the expression even further:

√(3) / 2 / 2 / 2 = √(3) / (2 * 2 * 2)

Since any number divided by itself is equal to 1, we can simplify the expression one last time to get our final answer:

√(3) / (2 * 2 * 2) = 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/8

Therefore, the simplified form of the expression √3/√8 is 1/8.

What is the length of the major axis of the conic section shown below?
sveticcg [70]

\dfrac{(x-2)^2}{49}+\dfrac{(y+5)^2}{36}=1

The equation of a elipse:

\dfrac{x^2}{a^2}+\dfrac{y^2}{b^2}=1

The length of the major axis is equal 2a if a > b or 2b if b > a.

We have

a^2=49\to a=\sqrt{49}=7\\\\b^2=36\to b=\sqrt{36}=6\\\\a > b

therefore the length of the major axis is equal 2 · 7 = 14.
