A construction company is building the house shown below. They need to use a scale
Svetllana [295]

The height of the building is calculated by representing 1 inch as 8 feet. The final building has a height of 20 feet.

What is scaling?

Scaling is the increase or decrease in the height of an object by a scale factor k.

Given that the scale used is:

1 inch = 8 feet. Hence:

Since the height of the building is 2.5 in, hence:

Height of the final building = 2.5 in * 8 ft per 1 in = 20 feet

The height of the final building is 20 feet.

Find the value of x.
Cerrena [4.2K]
x^2 + (x + 3)^2 = (\sqrt{117})^2

x^2 + x^2 + 6x + 9 = 117

2x^2 + 6x -108 = 0

x^2 + 3x - 54 = 0

(x + 9)(x - 6) = 0

x + 9 = 0 ~~or~~ x - 6 = 0

x = -9 ~~ or~~ x = 6

Since the side of a triangle cannot have a negative length, we discard the solution x = -9.

Answer: x = 6

So I have the formula for the reflection over the x-axis is from (x,y) to (x,-y), and the reflection for the y-axis is (-x,y). Next, I have the original for A(2,-2), B(2,-6), and (9,-6) which is reflection over x-axis which is A(2,2), B(2,6), and C(9,6). Then, I have A(-2,-2), B(-2,-6), and C(-9,-6) for the reflection over the y-axis. Hope it help!

Alicia Bitman, age 30, plans to purchase a $200,000, 5-year term life insurance policy. What is the annual premium?
zhenek [66]

Answer: $770

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of units to be purchased by Alicia:

= 200,000 / 1,000

= 200 units

Alicia is purchasing a 5-year term life insurance policy. At age 30, the cost per $1,000 unit of insurance is $3.85 for a female.

The formula for the annual premium is:

= Number of units purchased * Premium per $1,000

= 200 * 3.85

= $770
