One species of fish in a fishery had an initial population of 255 fish and grew by 25 fish each season. A second species that wa

s being overfished started with an initial population of 450 fish, and then decreased by 40 fish each season. Assuming a linear change, write equations for the populations of each species. When will the two populations have the same amount of fish? After how many seasons will the second species be eliminated?

Answer:

a) during the 3rd season the populations will be the same

b) after 11 1/4 seasons the second species of fish will be eliminated

Step-by-step explanation:

1)  y = 25x + 255

2) y = -40x + 450

the above linear equations model the statements from the problem

we can find out when the two populations will have the same amount by graphing them and finding the point of intersection or by setting them equal to each other:

25x + 255 = -40x + 450

add 40x to each side to get:

65x + 255 = 450

subtract 255 from each side to get:

65x = 195

x = 195/65

x = 3

To find the season when the second species is eliminated we can use the second equation and set 'y' equal to zero and solve for 'x':

0 = -40x + 450

subtract 450 from each side to get:

-450 = -40x

x = -450/-40

x = 11.25

Greg spent 6.4 hours working with his dad one Saturday. If his dad paid him$45.76, how much did Greg make per hour?
nordsb [41]

Answer:

$7.15

Step-by-step explanation:

The best way to solve this is by crossing out the data you don't need so you're left looking at the key pieces to put the equation together. If his dad paid him $45.76 for 6.4 hours, then all you need to do is divide 45.76 by 6.4. (Hint: Use a calculator, it makes it ten times faster than trying to write it out!)

45.76 ÷ 6.4 = 7.15

So Greg made $7.15 an hour working with his dad.

A patio has an area of 1420 square feet. If the length is 45 1/2, what is the width
Anni [7]

[ Answer ]

\boxed{Width \ = \ 31\frac{19}{91} \ Ft^{2}}

[ Explanation ]

Area = 1420

Width = 45\frac{1}{2}

Area For Rectangle: Length · Width

Use division to find width:

1420 ÷ 45\frac{1}{2}

Convert mixed numbers to fractions:

1420 = \frac{1420}{1}

45\frac{1}{2} = \frac{91}{2}

\frac{1420}{1} ÷ \frac{91}{2}

Use mixed multiplication:

\frac{1420*2}{1*91}

= \frac{2140}{91}

Simplify:

= 31\frac{19}{91}

\boxed{[ \ Eclipsed \ ]}

Find the slope \mathrm{m}m of the line in the graph below. \mathrm{m} =m=
yulyashka [42]

Answer:

m=4 or m=\frac{4}{1}

Step-by-step explanation:

To find slope we use the slope formula

m=\frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2} -x_{1} }

Two points on the line we can classify are (3,4) and (4,8)
