Life saving skills are those skills gained by an individual to assist a victim in an emergency situation. Examples of emergency situations are:

  • shock

  • hemorrage or bleeding

  • bites and stings

  • burns

  • asphyxia.

The basic skills necessary to to perform immediate life-saving treatment to these victims are:

  • Ensure that the victim is removed from the accident scene to avoid further injury,

  • Ensure that the airway of the victim is clear and that is breathing normal.

  • If not breath is observed, apply cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

  • Prepare to convey the victim to a health facility.
