Thermoplastic and thermosetting

thermoplastic:- they are easily molded and extruded into films, fibres and packaging.For eg. PVC

thermosetting:-they are hard and durable and can be used for aircraft parts,tires and auto parts .For eg. phenolic resins.

<em>Thermoplastics such as polyethylene and polystyrene are capable of being molded and remolded repeatedly.</em>

Thermoplastics can be recycled. They are further of two types:

1. Amorphous (polystyrene, polycarbonate etc.)

2. Semi-Crystalline (PET, nylon etc.)

<u>Thermosets</u>

<em>Thermoset is a material that strengthens when heated, but cannot be remolded or heated after the initial forming.</em>

Thermosets can't be recycled.

At the second condition, the number of moles stays the same however pressure and temperature was changed. So, the new volume is calculated as follows:

V = nRT / P
V = 0.40 x 8.314 x 293.15 / 102.7 x 10^3
V = 9.49 x 10^-3 m^3 or 9.49 L
