In the serial dilution for the preparation of the dye, the total dilution factor is 1/20

What is dilution of solution?

Dilution is the process of preparing solutions of lesser concentration from a more concentrated solution.

In test tube 1:

Total volume = 60 mL

Dilution factor = 1:4

1 parts stock solution is required for every four parts diluent

Total parts = 5

volume of diluent = 4/5 × 60 mL = 48 mL

48 mL of diluent is added to 12 mL of stock solution to prepare the solution in test tube 1.

In test tube 2:

Total volume = 15 mL

Dilution factor = 1:5

1 parts stock solution is required for every five parts diluent

Total parts = 6

volume of diluent = 5/6 × 15 mL = 12.5 mL

12.5 mL of diluent is added to 2.5 mL of stock solution from tube 1 to prepare the solution in test tube 2.

Total dilution factor = 1/4 × 1/5 = 1/20

Which or these equations is balanced H2SO4 + 2Al > Al2(SO4)3 + H2 or 2KCl + Pb(NO3)2 > 2KNO3 + PbCl2
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Balancing of chemical equation is essential because of the law of conservation of mass, which states that the mass of a system can not be created or removed.

The second equation is balanced

2KCl_(_a_q_) +Pb(NO_3)_2_(_a_q_) ==> 2KNO_3_(-a_q_) + PbCl_2(_a_q_)

This is because the number of elements of each atom in the product side equal the number of elements of each atom on the reactant side.

The first equation is not balanced

H_2SO_4 _(_a_q) + 2Al_(_s_) ==> Al(SO_4)_3_(_a_q_) + H_2_(_g_)

This is because there is 1 molecule of SO_4^{-2} on reactant side as compared to 3 molecules of SO_4^{-2}

To balance the equation we add a coefficient of 3 on sulphuric acid (H_2SO_4) and a coefficient of 3 on hydrogen (H_2)

3H_2SO_4_(_a_q_) + 2Al_(_s_) ==> Al(SO_4)_3_(_a_q_) + 3H_2_(_g_)

Match the following
irina1246 [14]

The order would be coefficient, law of conservation of mass, products, and reactants respectively.

Word matching

The number written in front of a chemical symbol in an equation is called a coefficient.

The total mass of a system being unchanged is known as the law of conservation of mass

The substances made in chemical reactions are called products.

The starting materials in chemical reactions are called reactants.

As part of her nuclear stress test, Simone starts to walk on the treadmill. When she reaches the maximum level, Paul injects a r
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

Part A: 36 MBq; Part B: 18 MBq

Explanation:

The half-life is the time it takes for half the substance to disappear.

The activity decreases by half every half-life

A =Ao(½)^n, where n is the number of half-lives.

Part A

3.0 da = 1 half-life

A = Ao(½) = ½ × 72 MBq = 36 MBq

Part B

6.0 da = 2 half-lives

A = Ao(½)^2 = ¼ × 72 MBq = 18 MBq
