Since the pupils are shaped like domes, light enters the eye and hits the retina ( the receiving part of the eye located at the back) inverted. Once the signal is sent to the brain, the brain flips the image to what you see.

The cornea is shaped like a dome and bends light to help the eye focus. Some of this light enters the eye through an opening called the pupil (PYOO-pul). The iris (the colored part of the eye) controls how much light the pupil lets in. Next, light passes through the lens (a clear inner part of the eye).

The most likely cause of the burning sensation is acid reflux which travels back up the esophagus and irritates the esophageal lining. The chest pain felt can feel almost like a heart attack but it is best described as referred pain from the esophagus.
Should this heartburn persist, it is highly recommended to see a physician because the acid can erode the esophagus lining & the abdominal lining leading to ulcers. Easily treatable condition.

From a personal level this is awful!
