The value of the P(A∩B) is equal to 0.04.

We have given that,

P(A)= 0.4 and P(B) = 0.85.

We have to determine the P(A and B)

What is the formula for Independent Events?

For Independent Events,

P(A) × P(B) = P(A∩B)

so we have, P(A∩B) = 0.4×0.1

P(A∩B) = 0.04

P(A') = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

This information can be represented on a Venn diagram as shown below

P(A'∪B) means the union of everything that is not A with everything that is B

P(A'∪B) = 0.06 + 0.54 + 0.04

P(A'∪B) = 0.64

arsen [322]
The complete question in the attached figure

Let
w --------> represent the number of weeks that Jack saves
s --------- > represent the total amount saved, in dollars

step 1
find the equation of the line
points
(2,12) and (4,24)
slope m=(s2-s1)/(w2-w1)------->m=(24-12)/(4-2)-----> m=6

step 2
with m=6 and point (2,12)
s-s1=m*(w-w1)--------> s-12=6*(w-2)-----> s=6w-12+12-----> s=6w

the answer is
s=6w
