What conclusions can be drawn about the existence of carbon-12, carbon-13, and carbon-14? A) These are forms of carbon and they
Kryger [21]

Answer:

C.

Explanation:

All these carbon atoms are isotopes: they have the same amount of protons (in this case, 6 because carbon always has 6 protons) and the same amount of electrons (6 because the carbons given have a neutral charge).

Therefore, the only thing we are changing is the atomic mass and the amount of neutrons present in each isotope.

In Carbon-12, there are 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

In Carbon-13, there are 6 protons, 7 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

In Carbon-14, there are 6 protons, 8 neutrons, and 6 electrons.

What is the major difference between bacterial chromosomes and eukaryotic chromosomes?.
Sphinxa [80]

The major difference between bacterial chromosomes and eukaryotic chromosomes is that bacteria have a single circular chromosome whereas eukaryotes have several linear chromosomes.

Eukaryotic chromosomes are present within the nucleus while prokaryotic chromosomes are found in the nucleoid (a region of the cytoplasm). The nucleoid does not have a membrane.

In eukaryotic chromosomes, DNA is wrapped around histone proteins, which is further compacted by supercoiling and folding. However, in prokaryotic chromosomes, DNA is supercoiled and held together by nucleoid-associated proteins.

Prokaryotic chromosome is very simple in comparison to the eukaryotic one. Prokaryotic chromosome lack telomeres and centromeres sequences which is found in the eukaryotic chromosomes.

How does the water cycle purify water
dimulka [17.4K]

During the water cycle some of the water in the oceans and freshwater bodies, such as lakes and rivers, is warmed by the sun and evaporates. During the process of evaporation, impurities in the water are left behind. As a result, the water that goes into the atmosphere is cleaner than it was on Earth.
