A citizen's responsibilities are basic guidelines to follow, given by the government and society. whereas their rights are the freedoms they get for being an American citizen. these freedoms include simple things like the freedom of speech. A citizens responsibility could be that they have to pay taxes.

A citizen's rights are what they are allowed to do. Like voting, is a citizen's right. A citizen's responsibility on the other hand is what we should and are expected to do. For example, not littering is a citizen's responsibility.
