Translate into an algebraic expression: If I travel d miles in h hrs downstream on a river with a current of c mph, what would m
xenn [34]

Answer:

The speed is still water is v = \frac{d}{h} - c.

Step-by-step explanation:

Dimentionally speaking, speed is distance divided by time. Since, the person is travelling downstream, absolute speed is equal to the sum of current speed and speed of the person regarding current. Both components are constant. That is:

c + v = \frac{d}{h}

Where:

c - Current speed, measured in miles per hour.

v - Speed of the person regarding current, measured in miles per hour.

d - Distance travelled downstream, measured in miles.

h - Time spent on travelling, measured in hours.

Speed in still water occurs when current speed is zero. Then, such variable is obtained after subtracting current speed on both sides of the expression. Hence:

v = \frac{d}{h} - c

The speed is still water is v = \frac{d}{h} - c.

What are the explicit equation and domain for a geometric sequence with a first term of 2 and a second term of −8?
Alexxx [7]
The common ratio in a geometric sequence is the ratio between 2 consecutive terms:

-8/2=-4,

then the sequence is  2, -8, 32, -128, -512, 2048, ...

let a_n be the nth term of the sequence, then

a_1= 2
a_2=2(-4)
a_3=2(-4)(-4)=2(-4)^{2}
a_4=2(-4)(-4)(-4)=2(-4)^{3}
.
.
.
so clearly a_n=2(-4)^{n-1}

and, clearly n are integers >0, since we have a 1st term, a second term and so on... of a sequence (we do not have a "zero'th term"!

Answer:

<span>C. an=2(-4)^n-1; all integers where n>0</span>

Chelsea shows her work in finding the solution to 4x−5=2+3(x−3). After checking her answer in the original equation, she found t
Ainat [17]

Step-by-step explanation:

espero te sirva
